Head Coach: Jason Culpepper, fourth season

2014-15: 28-2, 12-0 Kaysinger, Kaysinger Conference Tournament champions, district champions

Who’s back: Destiny Dowell, 5-4 guard and Democrat Player of the Year, averaged 17.5 ppg, 5.1 spg, 5 apg; Alyson Brant, 5-10 junior power forward; Maddie Eldringhoff, junior guard, shot 38 percent from 3-point range; Lyndsi Marton, 5-10 senior center

Who’s new: Jessica Bishop, 5-10 senior post player should provide rebounding; McKenzie Higgins, quick senior guard; Annie Martin; Hayden Dillon; Tara Payne; Brooklyn Pace

Who’s gone: Ashton Pace, Paige Baker; Angela Petree; Layne Koechner; Olivia Huhmann

Outlook: The two-time defending Kaysinger champions look to fill the shoes of a strong Class of 2015 which oversaw the transformation of the Cardinals program from a five-win team into a squad which went to the Class 2 state quarterfinal.

In order to fulfill their goal of repeating as district champions, the Cardinals will face a tough schedule including four Class 3 teams in the first month of the season.

Returning is Destiny Dowell, the guard who emerged last season as a major scoring threat. Maddie Eldringhoff is also back. She took on the role of defending opponent’s top guard.

Freshman Brooklyn Pace — younger sister of Ashton Pace — joins the squad and should see significant varsity minutes.
