MARSHALL — The Smith-Cotton Tigers advanced to the final game of the Marshall Tourney with a 68-55 semi-final win over Kirksville on Thursday.
S-C’s Dante Scroggins led all scorers with 27 points, 17 rebounds and five assists. Kendall Weymuth added 11 points and six rebounds while Zion Buckner had 10 points and five assists.
The Tigers’ aggressive defense bothered Kirksville all night as S-C built leads of 11 points by halftime and 13 by the end of the third quarter. S-C grabbed a 38-20 advantage on the glass with Keoni Hale grabbing nine rebounds.
S-C (3-0) will face the winner of the Jefferson City vs. Battle game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
