Lady Roadrunners fall in OT in Joplin

State Fair fell 94-86 in overtime to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Saturday in the second day of the Battle on the Border in Joplin.

The Lady Roadrunners led 18-11 after one quarter before the Lady Norse rallied back, taking the lead with 4:35 left in the second quarter. NEO led by as many as seven in the second quarter before State Fair closed the half with a 9-0 run to retake the lead.

The Lady Norse led by seven with 24 seconds left, but Zhanesha Dickerson hit a 3-pointer, Danae’ Cole hit a free throw and an offensive rebound gave Sierra Clayborn a look at the buzzer and she nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game at 77-77, sending it to overtime.

In the OT, the Lady Norse took control early and led by as many as 11.

Clayborn led SFCC with 24 points, hitting 6 of 12 from 3-point range. Dickerson added 23, hitting 7 of 9 from the free throw line. Cole had 10 rebounds.

Missouri schools went 3-5 in the tournament.

State Fair will host Three Rivers on Jan. 9 to open the second semester.
