The Smith-Cotton girls basketball team fell to Clinton 54-38 on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers led 14-11 after one with Sarah Garcia scoring in the paint to beat the first quarter buzzer. Clinton briefly led in the second quarter before a Monique Grant putback with 1:44 left put S-C back in front. The Lady Tigers led 25-24 at halftime.

Clinton turned on the pressure in the second half and took a 36-34 lead after three, then opened the fourth with a 10-0 run.

“They stayed in that 1-2-2 press the whole game and we had trouble getting the ball up and down the floor and attacking it,” said Smith-Cotton coach Zach Vandevender. “It was a lot of turnovers down the stretch that got us.”

Cheyanne Tumlinson led S-C with nine points. Grant had eight and Darby Christian had seven.

Smith-Cotton (1-5, 1-1 WCC) will face Pleasant Hill at the W-K Shootout on Saturday.

Stover 51, Green Ridge 20

The Stover girls basketball team won its conference opener, beating Green Ridge 51-20 on Tuesday.

Mallory Uptegrove led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jensen Bauer had 12 points and set the school record for career 3-pointers. Eleanor Oehrke had 10 points. Ashley Schroder had six points and nine assists.

Madison Brown had 11 points for the Lady Tigers.

Stover (5-2, 1-0 Kaysinger) will visit Windsor on Friday.

Tipton 67, Versailles 57

Tipton beat Versailes 67-57 on Tuesday. The Cardinals led 38-24 at halftime and held off the Lady Tigers for the win.

Destiny Dowell led the Cardinals with 27 points, seven steals and five assists. Allison Brant had 22 points. Brooklyn Pace added 11.

Tipton (5-3) will face Pleasant Hill on Thursday.

Concordia 59, Sacred Heart 35

Concordia beat Sacred Heart 59-35 on Tuesday in a non-conference girls basketball game.

Anjanae Williams had nine points for the Gremlins. Maddy McClain and Elayna Ebers each had seven.

Sacred Heart will visit Cole Camp on Thursday.


Sacred Heart 78, Concordia 20

Sacred Heart beat Concordia 78-20 on Tuesday.

Ten different players scored for the Gremlins. Trent Lyles had 19 points Allden Harding had 17.

Sacred Heart (6-2) will host Cole Camp on Friday.

Cole Camp 59, Versailles 54

Cole Camp trailed by as many as eight but rallied to beat Versailles 59-54 on Tuesday.

Versailles jumped ahead in the second quarter and led 30-25 at halftime and 44-43 after three.

“It was kind of a grind it out type of a win, matching our 2-point baskets with their seven 3-pointers,” said Cole Camp coach Dan Schnell. “We didn’t shoot well from the free throw line… but enough to be able to get the win at the end.”

The Bluebirds were 8 for 12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Alex Pritzel led Cole Camp with 19 points. Unser Brockmann and Levi Hare each had 10.

Cole Camp (5-2) will visit Sacred Heart on Friday.

Stover 49, Green Ridge 45, ot

Stover rallied in the second half and beat Green Ridge 49-45 in overtime on Tuesday.

The Tigers led 18-9 after one and 32-19 at halftime before the Bulldogs came back and sent it to overtime tied 42-42.

Ryan Dove led Green Ridge with 27 points.

Stover was led by Brenden Bauer with 17 points and Colton Johannes with 14.



Cole Camp 41, St. Paul 28

The Cole Camp girls basketball team picked up a 41-28 win over St. Paul on Monday in Concordia.

The Bluebirds trailed 11-6 after one quarter but outscored the Lady Saints 9-2 in the second quarter, 13-10 in the third and 13-5 in the fourth.

Bailey Heimsoth led Cole Camp with 16 points. MacKenze Gudde added 11 points.

Grace Stumbaugh led St. Paul with 11 points.

Cole Camp will host Sacred Heart at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Concordia 66, Pilot Grove 49

A 25-point second quarter helped Concordia beat Pilot Grove 66-49 on Monday.

The Lady Orioles led 17-9 after one and 42-23 at halftime.

Cailey Cooper scored a career-high 29 points for the Lady Orioles.

Allison Weekley led the Lady Tigers with 13 points.


Pilot Grove 57, Concordia 49

Pilot Grove rallied in the third quarter to pull away from Concordia for a 57-49 win on Monday. The Orioles took a 26-23 lead into halftime before the Tigers put 16 points on the board in the third.

Cole Mize led Pilot Grove with 15 points. Ben Glenn added 14 and Brady Rentel scored 10.

Jordan Schluetter led the Orioles with 16 points. Alec Mueller added 15.
