Bombers can’t hold in in Nevada

The Sedalia Bombers had Nevada down to its final strike in the ninth inning Sunday in a MINK League game at Nevada.

The Griffons had runners on first and second with two out in the bottom of the ninth when Chris Kobar and Anthony Davidson hit back-to-back singles to lift the Griffons to a 3-2 win.

The Bombers scored both of their runs on a Stewart Nelson single in the third to drive in Landon Mason and Jarrod Perry. The Griffons got a run back in the sixth before winning it in the ninth.

Burke Echelmeier pitched 5 2-3 innings for no decision. Dylan Hastings took the loss in relief.

On Saturday, a five-run outburst in the fifth inning led the Bombers to a 6-3 win over St. Joseph.

The Mustangs led 3-1 before an Alex Del Rio double sparked the rally and Justin Holt singled home Del Rio and Perry. A passed ball scored the third run of the inning and another scored when Jordan Dey reached. Hunter Leeper capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly to bring in Trey Hair.

Ryan Lee pitched five innings for the win, striking out eight.
