Ryan Boyer, Smith-Cotton High School head football coach, today was named an Out-Of-Territory winner for the Positive Coaching Alliance’s Double-Goal Coach Award. Boyer’s selection as a regional winner qualifies him as a finalist for the national Double-Goal Coach honor.

According to a news release, the Positive Coaching Alliance “annually honors youth and high school sports coaches from throughout the U.S. who embody the ideals of the Double-Goal Coach who strives to win, while also pursuing the even more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports.”

Boyer was nominated by the Sedalia 200 district and received more than a dozen letters of recommendation from administrators, parents and his players. PCA received more than 2,400 nominations and selected 135 territory winners.

Boyer was humbled by the accolade.

“I am honored to receive this award,” he said. “I would like to thank everyone involved in the nomination process. I would especially like to thank my family and coaching staff for their commitment to our program.”

PCA will announce the 50 National Double-Goal Coach Award Winners on March 11. A select number of the national winners will participate in a panel discussion April 16 at PCA’s National Youth Sports Awards Dinner and Auction in Palo Alto, Calif.
