State Fair Community College Lady Roadrunners sophomore guard/forward Zhanesha Dickerson helped her team win both its games at the seventh annual NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Weekend July 23-26 at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville.

The event brought together 40 women’s basketball players from around the country.

“It was a wonderful experience,” Dickerson said. “I got to play in front of all the coaches who were there. My favorite part was meeting and playing with players from other areas of the country. We also attended a Hall of Fame banquet, where we got to see what great coaches did to help out women’s basketball. We also got to go to the beach.”

All participants were put through drills based on their positions and then placed on teams to play two games. Dickerson registered 16 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the second game.

“Zhanesha got to play against a high level of competition,” said Lady Roadrunners head coach Kevin Bucher. “It was an opportunity for her to elevate her game and work on skills to become a more, well-rounded player.”

As a freshman, Dickerson earned All-Region First Team and Missouri Community College Athletic Conference First-Team honors. She finished third on the team in scoring, averaging 13.3 points, and also had seven rebounds, 2.7 assists and one steal per contest.
