Gremlins run through St. Paul Lutheran for 46-32 win

The Sacred Heart Gremlins opened the season with a 46-32 win at St. Paul Lutheran on Friday.

The Gremlins scored all of their 22 first-half points in the first quarter. They added 18 in the third quarter and six in the fourth.

Trent Lyles ran for 253 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns. He went 9-of-17 for 88 yards and three scores through the air and had an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Nick Cashman added 71 yards and a TD on the ground. Cashman also had a receiving touchdown.

Cal Racy led Sacred Heart with five receptions for 50 yards and two touchdowns.

Charlie Wendt led the defense with nine tackles and also forced and recovered a fumble. Cashman had eight tackles.

The Gremlins will have their first home game of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday against McAuley Catholic out of Joplin at Tiger Stadium.
