UCM quarterback Garrett Fugate combined for four touchdowns and 417 yards Saturday as the Mules held off the Washburn Ichabod’s in a 38-28 win in Topeka, Kan.

Washburn got on the board first when Derek McGinnis found Anthony Daniels for a 34-yard touchdown pass with 7:36 remaining in the first quarter.

McGinnis had 264 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

The Mules went for it on a fourth-and-goal from a yard out on the ensuing drive and Fugate’s play-fake allowed tight end Ian Toalson to get open in the end zone for a score.

A Fugate TD run from a yard out with 12:54 remaining in the second quarter gave UCM a 14-7 lead and the Mules never surrendered it.

UCM got a 29-yard Billy Greco field goal, a two-yard scoring run from Fugate, a 30-yard TD from Fugate and a Markel Smith TD run from three yards out.
