Travelers win tourney in Kansas

The Sedalia Travelers won their pool and ended up winning the Mid-America Tournament at Kansas State University over the weekend.

The Travelers beat the Buhler Nationals in pool play, 7-6, on a Mason Kelchner walk-off hit. Kelchner went 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Gavin Jones went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Gabel Dull earned the win in relief, allowing zero runs on three hits.

Chase Plymell threw five innings, striking out five and allowing six runs.

The Travelers also tied 417 Hartley in pool play, 7-7 in eight innings.

With a 2-0-1 pool play record, the Travelers took on the BLT Hornets in the championship game, winning 11-1 in five innings.

Trey Green pitched all five innings, allowing one run on five hits.

Brice Pannier went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBI.

Dull, Kelchner and Plymell all went 2 for 3. Plymell and Jones each had two RBI.

The Travelers will play a doubleheader at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Blue Springs against Fike.
