This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 29

12:20 a.m.: Brian R. Corf, 34, of the 700 block of West Third Street, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor resisting arrest, third-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers responded to the 700 block of West Third Street to follow up on a burglary investigation. They made contact with Corf, who fled from the officers. During the foot chase, one of the officers suffered minor injuries. They apprehended the suspect and reportedly discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

4:45 p.m.: Caleb A. Foose, 23, of the 1300 block of East Boonville Street, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. Two officers observed Foose driving a scooter without a helmet and stopped him at East Pettis Street and North Mill Street. Dispatch advised he had a suspended license.

Dec. 31

4 p.m.: Nyad K. Roark, 37, of Slater, was arrested on a charge of hindering prosecution. An officer stopped a vehicle with expired license plates on West Main Street at Thompson Road. Roark reportedly provided false identifying information to prevent a male passenger from being arrested for an active warrant. The officer ultimately learned the passengers’ true identities and took both into custody.

Jan. 2

3:25 a.m.: Cissy J. Morris, 39, of Clinton, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor stealing and forgery. Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a report of shoplifting. The complainant said three subjects were “tag switching” multiple items and not paying the full price for $340 worth of items. Officers stopped Morris and searched her vehicle. They reportedly found a glass pipe with a white crystalline substance inside that later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Incidents

Dec. 28

8:40 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1500 block of Honeysuckle Road in reference to a burglary that had just occurred. The victim reported at least two subjects entered her home and rummaged through several rooms. They ran out of the house, one through the front door and the other through a broken window. The victim valued the damage to the window at $400. Officers gathered descriptions of the suspects, and the victim is willing to pursue charges.

Dec. 30

3:15 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of South Washington Avenue in reference to a burglary. The victims reported three guns, ammunition and three pairs of shoes were stolen. The officer gathered information on the suspect, and an investigation is ongoing.

2:40 p.m.: Officers took a theft report from a complainant who reported two guns stolen from his locked truck sometime between Dec. 20-27.

Dec. 31

11:30 a.m.: A victim reported a domestic violence incident in the 1100 block of East Seventh Street. She said a known male suspect had physically assaulted her and held her against her will over the weekend. An officer noticed the victim had suffered injuries, though she refused medical attention. The officer is seeking formal charges against the suspect through the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

6:15 p.m.: An officer responded to the 500 block of Dal Whi Mo Court to investigate a burglary report. The victim said someone broke into the residence and took $4,450 worth of items. He said he had a disturbance at the house earlier in the day. The victim provided names of suspects, but the officer hadn’t made contact with them at the time of the report.

Jan. 1

1:55 a.m.: An officer responded to the 100 block of West 14th Street to investigate a report of property damage. The victim said someone threw a large rock at the windshield of her vehicle. She said she didn’t know who threw the rock, but she estimated the damage to cost about $1,000.

8:05 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of Buckingham Drive for a report of a child custody issue. The victim said she had court orders stating he was supposed to have custody of her child that day. She said the child’s father refused to give her the child. The officer attempted to make contact with the suspect, but he refused to answer the door. The officer is submitting a charge of interference with child custody.

Jan. 2

12 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of South Montgomery Avenue for a theft report. The victim reported someone took his motorcycle earlier that night at a different address in Sedalia. He provided names of suspects, and an investigation is underway.

Jan. 1

10:35 p.m.: Alexander F. Knipp was arrested on a charge of first-degree trespassing. Deputies arrested Knipp in the 1300 block of East Boonville Street after responding to a call of a burglary in progress.

9:45 a.m.: Jeffrey W. Clouse, 45, of Marshall, was arrested in Saline County on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and not wearing a seat belt.
