This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 2

10:30 p.m.: William Lavell Taylor, 27, of the 500 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested on a charge of second-degree domestic assault. Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South Ohio Avenue for what was later determined to be a domestic violence incident. They made contact with Taylor and another subject. Investigation reportedly revealed Taylor had assaulted the other subject, and the officers took him into custody.

Jan. 3

10:40 a.m.: Julia A. Taylor, 37, of the 200 block of South Quincy Avenue, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Officers were dispatched to the area of West Main Street and South Park Avenue for a traffic complaint. The caller was following a vehicle east on West Main Street. The caller said the female driver was unable to maintain her own lane, and it appeared she was leaning her head against the driver’s side window at times. The complainant followed the driver to the area of West Third Street and South Quincy Avenue where she parked the car in the middle of the street. Officers made contact with the driver and arrested her.

Incidents

Jan. 2

10:35 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 2200 block of West Fourth Street for a vehicle theft report. The caller said someone entered the property sometime between 6:30 and 10:15 a.m. and took a blue 2004 Ford F350 Dually. The vehicle had a “watch for motorcycles” sticker on the tailgate and a chrome brush guard on the front with yellow fog lights. Officers hadn’t located the vehicle at the time of the theft call.

Arrests

Jan. 3

8 a.m.: Brenden J. Jackson, 24, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Moniteau County on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, not having insurance, displaying the plates of another and failure to register.
