This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Jan. 4

1:45 p.m.: Jacob M. Burgher, 18, of the 1900 block of East Third Street, received a municipal court summons for a charge of possession of marijuana. An officer stopped a sedan for bearing license plates that belonged to a pickup truck. During the stop, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the car. A search of the occupants and the vehicle reportedly revealed several items that the officer believed to be marijuana. He issued both the driver and the occupant a municipal court summons.

9:20 p.m.: Lois Diane Bowers, 59, of the 1100 block of South Massachusetts Avenue, received a municipal court summons for a charge of assault and destruction of non-city property. Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Massachusetts Avenue in reference to an assault. They spoke with the complainant and Bowers and issued her a municipal court summons.

Jan. 5

12:35 a.m.: Sandy Kay Thomas, 60, of the 1500 block of East Seventh Street, was arrested on a charge of first-degree trespassing. Officers were dispatched to a bar in the 1200 block of East Third Street for a report of trespassing. They made contact with Thomas, who refused to leave even after being given alternatives. The officers arrested her and placed her in protective custody at the Pettis County Jail.

Incidents

Jan. 4

8:25 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a theft. The complainant said a manager contacted him about missing items from the store. The complainant watched security footage and saw a suspect take multiple items, conceal them in a backpack and leave without paying for them. The officer later identified the suspect and requested charges.

Jan. 5

11:55 a.m.: An officer responded to the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue for a report of a vandalized vehicle. The victim showed the officer where someone had intentionally damaged his vehicle. The victim said the damage occurred about 11:30 a.m. that day. He estimated the damage to cost about $2,000. The officer had no suspects at the time of the report.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Office

Arrests

Jan. 6

9:45 p.m.: Alex Esser was arrested on a charge of property damage. Deputies took Esser into custody in connection with a report of property damage in the 800 block of McVey Road. An investigation into the report continues.

Incidents

Jan. 5

5:05 p.m.: Deputies took a report of a minor assault that occurred in the 600 block of Southwood Road. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Arrests

Jan. 5

1:40 a.m.: Katila M. Pitts, 21, of Knob Noster, was arrested in Johnson County on charges of felony possession of prescription pills, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

2:30 a.m.: Jordan M. Boettcher, 21; Jessica L. Biondo, 21; and Madison J. O’Neill, 20, all of St. Charles, were arrested in Saline County on charges of felony possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

12:40 p.m.: Terry A. Jackson, 47, of Jefferson City, was arrested in Morgan County on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and oxycodone and displaying or possessing the plates of another. Troopers also served failure to appear warrants from Cole County and Jefferson City.
