Smith-Cotton opens Kickapoo Tourney with win

The Smith-Cotton soccer team earned a 1-0 win over Jefferson City in the Kickapoo Tournament on Friday.

Jordan Lawson set up Carlos Aguirre in the 35th minute for the only goal of the game.

Landon Dove kept a clean sheet.

Stover 4, La Monte 0

Three first-half goals by Colton Johannes helped Stover beat La Monte 4-0 on Friday.

Landon Thompson set up the first Johannes goal with a cross into the box. Johannes scored two more unassisted and Brenden Bauer scored for the Bulldogs in the second half.

Stover (5-5, 2-1 Kaysinger) will open the conference tournament against the Vikings at 7 p.m. Monday.

Glendale 1, Sacred Heart 0, ot

An overtime goal sank Sacred Heart in the first game at the Kickapoo Tournament Friday as the Gremlins lost 1-0 to Class 3 No. 9 Glendale.

The teams played 80 scoreless minutes before Glendale knocked home the game winner with 3:32 left in overtime.

Sacred Heart will play Waynesville at 8 a.m. Saturday.


Cole Camp 7, Windsor 6

The Cole Camp football team edged Windsor 7-6 on Friday.

Windsor scored early but Cole Camp answered in the second quarter and both defenses held through the second half.

Late Thursday


Knob Noster 2, Higginsville 1

Knob Noster beat Higginsville 24-26, 25-8, 25-23 on Thursday.

Kayla Kuhlman had a season-high 15 kills along with two blocks and eight digs. Taylor Kuhlman had 49 assists, five kills, 14 digs and two aces. Leighah Aquino had six aces and 24 digs. Allie Schnorenburg and Rylee Parrot had nine digs.

The Lady Panthers junior varsity won 25-21, 25-11.
