State Fair Community College recently announced the 2024 Instructor, Staff Member and Adjunct of the Year recipients. Students nominated more than 190 candidates for the three awards, and a committee of student leaders selected the winners.

As Becky Solomon made the four- to five-hour journey from her home in Willard to the Wheel-Thing Skate Center in Sedalia in what has become a Tuesday night tradition, she looked forward to meeting her long-time skater friends Grace and Kenny Williams, of Elkland, for their weekly pre-skate dinner in Buffalo.

Welcome to the year of the bug. We’re just in time to witness two giant broods of cicadas rising from the ground like a horde of zombie bugs. How many zombie bugs? Definitely billions. But most likely trillions. There’s no official tree-to-tree cicada census, so it’s hard to be sure.
