Two from Chillicothe killed in Benton County accident
Matthew W. Dixon, 64, and Karen L. Dixon, 66, of Chillicothe, were killed at 1:24 p.m. Saturday in a Benton County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Matthew Dixon was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle south on U.S. Highway 65 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, the driver overcorrected and returned to the roadway. The vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and ran off the left side of the road, when it struck the ground, and three trees.
Karen Dixon was not wearing a seat belt, Matthew Dixon was. Both occupants were pronounced dead on scene by Benton County Corner Weston Miller and were transported to Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.
Kansas City teen hurt in Johnson County accident
Claire E. Bogaard, 18, of Kansas City, suffered minor injuries at 8:05 p.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Bogaard was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Impala east on U.S. Highway 50 when she became distracted, veered off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the road, and traveled off the right side striking an embankment and overturning.
Bogaard was wearing a seat belt, and was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
