Warrensburg woman arrested for DWI after crash

A Warrensburg woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle accident at 1:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Kelsey J. Parsons, 31, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe south on Business 13 when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and overturned.

Parsons, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.

She was arrested for DWI and a lane violation.

Woman hurt in Johnson County crash

A Warrensburg woman sustained minor injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Tabitha A. Poppaw, 40, was driving an eastbound 2023 Ford Fusion on Route E when she attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Poppaw, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by private vehicle to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Child hurt in ATV accident

A 6-year-old girl was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Henry County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the child was driving a 2020 Rayt ATV east in the 700 block of Southeast 1231st Road when the vehicle experienced an equipment failure and overturned, ejecting the driver.

The child, who was using a safety device, was taken by EMS to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton with minor injuries.

Two injured in Pettis County accident

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 6:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Pettis County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Paula Q. Smith, 54, of Lebanon, was driving a northbound 2005 Buick LeSabre on U.S. Highway 50 at Rissler Road when she entered the path of an eastbound 2024 Honda HRV driven by Cara M. Caby, 26, of Rayton. Caby’s vehicle struck Smith’s vehicle and both came to rest in the westbound lane.

Caby was taken by MU Air to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Smith was taken by private vehicle to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.

Both drivers were wearing a seat belt.

Two from Kansas injured in Morgan crash with deer

Two Overland Park, Kansas, residents sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 7:40 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1 in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Trevor A. Harmon, 30, was driving a 2003 Polaris 330 Magnum ATV north on Towering Oak Lane, about 79 feet south of Bayside Lane, when he struck a deer that entered the roadway.

Harmon and a passenger, Natasha B. Knies, 28, were taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. Neither were using a safety device.

Edwards man hurt in Benton crash

An Edwards man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:34 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 in a Benton County accident.

Michael D. Wilson, 77, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on Forthview Road, west of Stag Drive, when he traveled off the right side of the road and struck a concrete abutment. The vehicle returned to the roadway, traveled off the left side and then struck a tree.

Wilson, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.

MSHP was assisted by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Creek Fire Department.

One seriously injured in ATV accident

Two Raytown residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 in Morgan County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, an unknown person was driving a 2014 Polaris Ranger north on Ivy Bend Road, 285 feet before Snyder Drive south junction, when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle returned to the roadway and rolled over.

Occupant 50-year-old April M. Berry was taken by MU Air to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. Occupant 57-year-old Olen L. Stephen was taken by Mid-Missouri Ambulance District to Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach with moderate injuries. Neither was using a safety device.

MSHP was assisted by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Holden man arrested after Johnson crash

A Holden man was arrested after a single-vehicle accident at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Aaron J. Phillips, 45, was driving a 2007 Dodge south on Southwest 1451st Road at Southwest 75th Road when the vehicle traveled off the road and struck a ditch.

Phillips, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by private vehicle to an unlisted medical facility with minor injuries.

Phillips was arrested for driving while intoxicated and released to medical personnel.

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Tipton man injured in Moniteau accident

A Tipton man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 8:21 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 in Moniteau County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dakota M. Lavery Smith, 19, was driving a 2007 Yamaha R1 west on Morgan Street, 195 feet from Auglaize Avenue, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck the ground. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Lavery Smith, who was using a safety device, was taken by ambulance to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.

One hurt in Johnson County accident

A Lee’s Summit man sustained moderate injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 4:28 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Brett A. Jones, 46, was driving a 1996 Honda east on Northwest 400th Road east of Northwest 1201st Road when the vehicle experienced a mechanical failure. The vehicle slowed, overturned and slid, coming to rest in the roadway.

Jones, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.
