Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Moore, of Raytown, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Feb. 4.
Virginia Biery and Ellis Moore met in 1943 while attending Smith-Cotton High School. They were married on Feb. 4, 1949, at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
Mr. Moore served in the military and is a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1986 after being employed for 39 years.
Mrs. Moore was crowned Miss Sedalia in 1948. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company until the birth of their first daughter in 1951. She then became a full-time mother and homemaker.
The couple has six children, Cynthia (Bob) Hein, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Teresa (Jeff) Moore-Wright, of Sedalia, Diana (Gary) Pumphrey, of Blue Springs, Jeannine (Pat) Raveill, of Blue Springs, Patrick (Tina) Moore, of Lawson, and Lora (Kent) Rodina, of Springfield; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Moore will celebrate together in their home, 11604 E. 62nd St., Raytown, Mo. 64133. Cards and telephone calls would be loved and appreciated.
