This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 20

1:59 a.m.: Joseph E. Weller, 21, of the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue, was arrested after officers responded for domestic assault. After completing the investigation, Weller was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold for fourth-degree domestic assault. 

Incidents

April 20

6:19 a.m.: Officers responded to the 400 block of West 11th Street in reference to property damage. Someone had entered the caller’s vehicle overnight. Both the driver and passenger side doors were scratched, some wires were hanging below the steering wheel, and the motor was not running normally. The value of the damage was estimated at $1,000. No suspects have been identified. 

7:40 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 900 block of Royal Boulevard for a burglary report. The reporting party said she arrived at work at 7:30 a.m. to find the front glass door was broken, cash registers had money taken from them, and computer equipment was missing. There are no suspects at this time. 

8:03 a.m.: An officer responded to the area of South Park Avenue and West Spring Street for a report of found property. A cash register was found in the street and was placed into evidence.

8:20 a.m.: An officer responded to the 3100 block of Brianna Boulevard for a vehicle theft report. The victim stated that sometime between 9:30 p.m. April 19 and 7:40 a.m. April 20, his 2014 Jeep Patriot was stolen. 

8:46 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of East Howard Street for a property damage report. The victim stated that a woman known to him came by his house after an argument and drove her vehicle into the rear of his parked vehicle, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage. The suspect reportedly had a child with her. The officer took photos of the damage and attached them to the report. At the time of the report, he was not able to make contact with the suspect, but the Children's Division of Family Services was contacted. 

9:46 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Buckner Court for a report of a stolen check. The victim stated her check was sent to her previous address and on April 15 someone had deposited said check. The officer went to the address but was not able to make contact with anyone. At the time of the report, none of the residents had been located.

Arrests

April 20

3:49 p.m.: Jayden T. Lawson-Cheese, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
