This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Sedalia Police Department

Arrests

Jan. 18

11:15 p.m.: John Benscoter, 52, of the 2500 block of Southwest Boulevard, was arrested after a traffic stop for a vehicle with excessively dark window tint near South Osage Avenue and West Third Street. Benscoter was intoxicated and was transported to the police department where he was issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated and released to a sober driver.

Jan. 26

11:19 p.m.: Albert Eugene Nash, 28, of the 800 block of Third Street, was arrested after a vehicle stop near South Grand Avenue and West Third Street for improperly displaying registration plates. Nash was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Jan. 27

8:14 p.m.: Chandler Wade Lakemper, 23, of Columbia, was arrested after a vehicle stop near South Ohio Avenue and East 16th Street for expired registration and an outstanding warrant. Lakemper was intoxicated and his mother, Rebecca A. Lakemper, walked onto the scene and repeatedly interfered despite multiple directives. Both subjects were transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold. Charges of resisting arrest for the mother, and driving while intoxicated and failure to appear for the son were submitted to the prosecutor.

1:46 a.m.: Sheyene Matlox, 31, of the 900 block of South Porter Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop for failing to maintain a lane near West Broadway Boulevard and Thompson Boulevard. Matlox was intoxicated and was transported to the police department and issued a uniform traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated.

9:32 p.m.: Brandon Morgan, 45, of the 1300 block of East Ninth Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to Ninth Street and Center Avenue in reference to an intoxicated driver. Morgan was transported to the police department and then the Pettis County Jail, where he was charged with driving while intoxicated-aggravated offender and driving with a revoked license.

Incidents

Jan. 31

9:11 a.m.: An officer spoke with the owner of a business in the 900 block of Thompson Boulevard regarding fraud. Business emails had apparently been intercepted regarding an upcoming mortgage payment for the business and a transfer of money was attempted but was stopped. An investigation into the action has been initiated.

Incidents

6:31 p.m.: Deputies responded to the 25000 block of Trickum Road in Houstonia for a burglary report. Several firearms, ammunition and accessories were reported stolen. The investigation is ongoing.

Arrests

Jan. 30

10:50 p.m.: Carl D. Watts, 53, of California, was arrested in Moniteau County for driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain the right-half of the roadway resulting in an accident. He was transported to the Moniteau County Jail and placed on a 12-hour hold.

Jan. 31

10:14 p.m.: Elias E. Baumgartner, 25, of Columbia, was arrested in Pettis County for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was transported to the Pettis County Sheriff's Office and released.
