This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

July 18

1:16 a.m.: Shauna B. Dewey, 25, of Boonville, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of State Fair Boulevard and West Fifth Street. A K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics and during a search, officers located 12 ounces of marijuana as well as methamphetamine. Dewey was charged with two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance. 

July 19

5:04 a.m.: Jose Chuquie, 45, of the 1600 block of South Park Avenue, was arrested after officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. They conducted a traffic stop near East Seventh Street and South Montgomery Avenue. Chuquie was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked for no operator's license, no proof of insurance, speeding, and defective tail lights.

July 20

1:44 a.m.: Brandon L. Kaira, 39, of the 600 block of West Fifth Street, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Road for driving while intoxicated. He was charged with DWI-alcohol and released. 

Incidents

July 18

11:04 a.m.: An officer responded to the area of West Fifth Street and South Barrett Avenue for a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident. The original incident occurred at a business in the 100 block of West Sixth Street. Upon arrival, the victim told police the suspect left the area and then fled on foot after being followed in the vehicle. The suspect has been identified and state charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident are being requested. An additional charge of ignition interlock required is also being submitted for review.

11:23 a.m.: Officers responded to East Seventh Street and South New York Avenue in reference to a possible disturbance. A subject was reported to have jumped in front of a vehicle in the area. The subject then proceeded to assault the driver and caused approximately $300 in damage to the vehicle. The suspect has not been located.

July 19

2:41 p.m.: A victim reported her hubcaps were stolen from her Mercury while it was parked at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, 2503 W. 16th St.

3:32 p.m.: An officer responded to the 2200 block of West Fifth Street for a cardiac arrest. The officer located a non-responsive subject in the back bedroom and life-saving measures were begun. The subject began to breathe on his own and Sedalia Fire and Pettis County Ambulance District responded and took over care. He was transported to Bothwell Hospital for further treatment.
