This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 8

6:26 p.m.: Francesca Durac, 19, of Independence, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to South Limit Avenue and West 16th Street in reference to a panhandler in the roadway. Officers had been out to the location previously for the same reason and made contact with the subject, who was walking on South Limit Avenue as traffic passed by and walking in the roadway to approach vehicles. The subject was issued a summons for walking the roadway and released. Her sign was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

10:11 p.m.: Crystal Sheresa Tomasen Burton, 38, of the 1100 block of East 11th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop for improperly displayed registration on West Broadway Boulevard at South Warren Avenue. She had a suspended driving status and Burton was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving while suspended.

Sept. 5

5 p.m.: Wendy G. Welling, 37, of Sedalia, and Isaac A. Welling, 27, of Sedalia, were arrested after officers were dispatched to an abduction/kidnapping call. The caller stated two individuals were demanding $500 for the release of her autistic 21-year-old daughter. A time was established to conduct an exchange at a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard and when the subjects arrived, officers arrested them. The Wellings were placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail for first-degree harassment.

Sept. 9

1:55 a.m.: Thomas L. Gibbs, 56, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 1500 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a home invasion. They made contact with a subject outside the residence wielding a knife. Gibbs was taken into custody without incident and found to be in violation of a full order of protection. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending state charges of a violation of an ex parte order.

2:19 a.m.: Timofey Viktorovich Meinichuk, 27, of Lee's Summit, was arrested after a traffic stop on South Osage Avenue near West Fifth Street on a vehicle that was not properly displaying registration plates. Meinichuk was intoxicated and he was transported to the police department, issued a traffic ticket for driving while intoxicated and released to a sober driver.

7:38 p.m.: Deionisia C. Vance, 44, of the 900 block of Westwood Avenue, was arrested after officers responded to the 400 block of Buckner Court for a disturbance. Vance was arrested for property damage, assault, and trespassing after reportedly using a scooter to hit a van and cause damage. Vance was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was placed on a 24-hour hold for felony property damage.

Incidents

Aug. 31

10:00 p.m.: An officer spoke with a victim regarding the fraudulent use of her credit card. She indicated a known subject acquired her card number while at her residence and used it without permission. After further investigation and interviews, charges of fraudulent use of a credit card were submitted to the Pettis County prosecutor.

Sept. 5

9:39 a.m.: The Sedalia Fire Department, Sedalia Police Department, and Pettis County Ambulance District were dispatched to the 700 block of Wilkerson Street in reference to a potential house fire with someone stuck inside. An officer forced entry into the home and located the subject, who was treated by PCAD and SFD.

1:59 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the police department in reference to a theft that occurred on East Fifth Street. The victim said they set their wallet down at the post office and it was gone when they looked back.

3:48 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the police department in reference to an assault report. A subject in the 1100 block of West Seventh Street threatened code enforcement officers in the performance of their duties.

Sept. 9

Noon: An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of East 14th Street in reference to a theft report. One of the complainant’s license plates was stolen and was entered into the system as such.

Sept. 10

4:29 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3100 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to trespassing. A subject had already left the scene but left his property and a controlled substance on the property. The subject has been identified but not has not been contacted.

6:23 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a female subject stole various items on various occasions. The suspect has been identified, but no contact has been made.

Sept. 11

3:34 a.m.: Officers responded to the police department lobby for a man who reported stealing a pair of headphones from a local business last week. He provided the headphones to law enforcement and a report was taken documenting the incident.

Arrests

Sept. 8

6:36 p.m.: Destiny Archambault was arrested after deputies conducted a traffic stop near 16th Street and South Limit Avenue on a vehicle with defective brake lights. Archambault had a suspended license and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving with a suspended license.

7:35 p.m.: Sierra Cooper, of the 1400 block of South Missouri Avenue, was arrested after deputies attempted to make contact with John Leach, a resident with multiple felony warrants. They were allowed into the residence and made contact with Cooper, who told deputies Leach was not in the room, though he was quickly located hiding in a closet. Leach and Cooper were placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where Cooper was released pending a charge of hindering the prosecution of a felony and Leach was booked on an active warrant.

Arrests

Sept. 8

6:57 p.m.: Terry L. Wagoner, 60, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Pettis County for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.

Sept. 9

6:45 a.m.: Trey W. Miller, 24, of Clinton, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, and speeding. He was transported to the Johnson County Detention Center and released.

Sept. 10

12:20 p.m.: James B. Russell, 59, of Gravois, was arrested in Morgan County for felony possession of a firearm and speeding. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.
