This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Sept. 6

7:07 p.m.: Ariel D. Harrington, 28, of Cole Camp, and Jammie Morgan Newland, 22, of Sedalia, were arrested after officers responded to a business in the 1100 block of South Limit Avenue for an assault. A woman known to the general manager stated she and the assistant manager got into an altercation. Contact was made with the assistant manager, who stated that she was off the clock and entered the store. The females got into an argument and an altercation took place. Both wished to pursue charges on the other for assault so they were arrested and issued summons to appear in court, then released on scene.

Sept. 7

8:45 p.m.: Travis Eugene Ballew, 43, of the 1200 block of West 11th Street, was arrested after a vehicle was observed traveling north on South Ohio Avenue that the officer knew belonged to a suspended driver. The license plates were improper for the vehicle and it was stopped near South Ohio and West 14th Street. Ballew’s suspended status was confirmed and he was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and released.

Incidents

Sept. 6

6:30 p.m.: Officers responded to the Heckart Community Center, 1800 W. Third St., for a non-injury accident. The reporting party said she was in the community center when her car was struck by an unknown vehicle, which left the scene and has not been identified.

Sept. 7

6:04 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a motorcycle that was stolen overnight with an estimated value of $3,200. Information on the vehicle and the attached dealer tag were gathered and the motorcycle was entered into the system as stolen.

4:11 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a business parking lot in the 700 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Information was gathered on scene and an accident report was completed.

Arrests

Sept. 8

2:31 a.m.: Zakarya A. Abada, 22, of Grand Rapids, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and speeding. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
