Two juveniles arrested for burglary

Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a local business.

According to a Sedalia Police Department news release, at 2:55 a.m. July 30, officers responded to Discount Smoke Shop, 709 E. Broadway Blvd., for a commercial burglary alarm. 

The entry into the business was forced open and several vape devices and products were stolen. It was estimated that $3,000 worth of product was stolen and $330 in property damage occurred. 

At 1:16 a.m. Aug. 1, officers respond to the business again for a commercial burglary alarm. 

The entry into the business was forced open again and several vape devices and products were stolen. It was estimated that $9,800 worth of product was stolen and $250 of property damage occurred. 

The SPD Criminal Investigation Bureau began investigating the burglaries and potential suspects were identified. 

On Aug. 2, detectives and patrol officers conducted a search warrant in the 300 block of East Chestnut Street. Additional evidence was located and several of the stolen vape devices and products were recovered. 

SPD has requested charges of two counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree property damage, two counts of felony stealing, two counts of possession of burglary tools, and minor in possession of tobacco/vapor products with the Pettis County Juvenile Office against two juvenile subjects.
