Three straight state appearances culminated in a career-best finish for Hannah Lowman.
The Smith-Cotton senior tied for 17th during the MSHSAA Class 4 State Championship held Monday, Oct. 19, and Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.
Lowman finished with a two-round score of 16-over-par 160. She shot a personal-best 5-over 77 in the first round and an 11-over 83 in the second round, missing out on all-state honors and a top-15 medal by one stroke.
Still, the performance marked a significant improvement from Lowman’s first two state appearances. She tied for 59th with a 180 (97, 83) as a junior and tied for 52nd with 185 (90, 95) as a sophomore.
“Hannah represented herself, her family and Smith-Cotton amazingly with her talent and her class over the last two days,” S-C head golf coach Craig Harvey said in a statement. “We could not be more proud of what she accomplished this year and throughout her high school career. She has been an amazing player and person, and I hope nothing but the best for her.”
Raymore-Peculiar senior Addie Swan earned the individual championship, finishing with a 6-under 138 (67, 71).
Fort Zumwalt West won the team title with a score of 636.
