State Fair Community College men’s soccer lost to National Park College 4-2 in the Central District Tournament semifinals Friday, Nov. 6, at The Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois.

Freshmen Raheem Raeburn and Tresor Malaba each scored a goal for the Roadrunners, while sophomore Malachai Bonney and freshman Vijay Valcin each recorded an assist.

“It was a difficult match from the beginning,” acting SFCC head coach Jesus Gonzalez said in a statement. “We played the last 35 minutes a man down due to a red card. The guys played very well and kept the score 3-2 until the last minute of the match. It was not our day today.”

State Fair ends its season with an 11-6-1 record. The 11 wins are the most for the program since its resumption in 2016.

SFCC also claimed its first Region 16 championship since the resumption of the program.

“Thank you to all the people that made it to the game to cheer for us,” Gonzalez said. “It has been a great season for the program.”

National Park College (7-6-2) will play Heartland Community College (9-5-2) for the district championship at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.

Heartland defeated Mineral Area College (6-10-3) in its semifinal Friday.
