Charlie Crockett, Stoney Larue to perform at State Fair

Charlie Crockett and Stoney Larue will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18 at the Missouri State Fair Grandstand.  

Crockett is known as an American blues, country and Americana singer and songwriter. Since 2015, he’s released 10 albums, with “Lil G.L.’s Blue Bonanza'' reaching No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard Blues Album chart. According to his website, at age 37, and in the six years he’s been recording, he has invested as much time in the studio, recording storytelling songs, and making storytelling videos as he has been performing live shows in the U.S. and Europe.

His music is described as sad, uplifting, sweet, complex and delicate “all at once.”

LaRue, who has been performing for 20 years, was born in Texas and raised in Oklahoma. The singer is described as someone who “smashes preconceived ideas” about country performers. His website states, “He is a deft songwriter, informed traveler and self-aware philosopher, a troubadour who converses just as easily about Indian yogis and gurus as he does about Texas barbecue …”

LaRue, who does 200 shows a year, is known for his songs “Fallin’ and Flyin,’” “You Ought to Know Me by Now,” and “Meet Me in the Middle.”

Charlie Crockett and Stoney Larue will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Ticket prices are $35 for track and $30 for grandstand. Grandstand tickets will be for sale to the public at 9 a.m. June 28 through Etix.
