Bothwell Health Center Auxiliary Board

The Bothwell Health Center Auxiliary Board met on June 14 in the Hospital Board Room with nine members present. President Karen Kay Taylor called the meeting to order. The May Board minutes were read and approved. Virginia McAllister, treasurer, gave the Treasurer’s Report for May and it was approved.

The total volunteer hours worked for the month of May were 1,449 hours. Six volunteers earned their new hourly pins: Elaine Bryson, 900 hour pin: Eddie Crouch, 100 hour pin; Joyce Grinstead, 2,500 hour pin; Judy Naylor, 1,000 hour pin; Linda Reed, 600 hour pin; and Jennifer Stevenson, 100 hour pin.

The Amazing Volunteer for the Month of July 2023, is Sara Lyles. Lyles volunteers in our gift shop. She is on the Auxiliary Board and is our Membership Chairman and greeting card buyer. She was the President of the Auxiliary in 1991 to 1993. She started in 1984 and has volunteered over 5,000 hours.

Bothwell’s Chief Executive Officer Lori Wightman, attended our meeting. She thanked the Auxiliary for all it does for Bothwell Hospital, and said she appreciated all the volunteers. She suggested one member from the Foundation would start to help us out. She would help schedule the volunteers’ days and times. Also, this person would help with buying items for our gift shop.

Shirley Evans, scholarship chairman, reported on the scholarships that the Auxiliary gives out. She reminded those who would be interested in applying for a scholarship to stop by the Gift Shop and pick up an application. These applications are due back by June 30, 2023.

The security dog will be here around June 28. There will be a meet and greet on July 18 and 20. Times and location will be announced at a later date.

Dates to Remember: June 30, Scholarship Applications are due, at 10 a.m. July is the Gift Shop Board Meeting, and at 10:30 a.m. July 12 is the Auxiliary Board Meeting.

The hospital visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The gift shop hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Gift Shop will be closed on all holidays and if there are school closings due to inclement weather, the gift shop and other volunteer services will be cancelled on these days.

Two new Auxiliary Volunteers join the Auxiliary in June. The Auxiliary volunteers in the Gift Shop, the Cancer Center, the Orthopedics Department, the Courtesy Cart and volunteer, as needed, in Human Resources and the Marketing Department. Community Retired Teachers Association

The Community Retired Teachers Association met June 21 at Christ & Trinity Lutheran Church. Ellie Wasson Duggan was the guest speaker. She shared the many changes she has made from wife, mother, business woman to volunteer. She helped bring about Sedalia's bus system. These things she always did with a positive attitude.

Carolyn Hays presided over the business meeting. She reported on the Region 5 meeting at Carrollton. Evelyn Porter gave the treasurer's report. The secretary's minutes were read by Jeanne Curry and they were approved. Members listed volunteer hours and donations. Jeri Perkins and Bob Williams were welcomed as new members. The next meeting will be September 20 at the church. All retired school personnel are invited to attend.
