LCAA announces auditions for mystery 'Exit the Body'

Liberty Center Association for the Arts is excited to announce auditions for its fall production of the comedy mystery, “Exit the Body” by Fred Carmichael, directed by Jan Bahner.

Auditions will be at 6:60 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25, onstage in the theatre at Liberty Center, 111 W. Fifth St. in downtown Sedalia. Rehearsals take place in August and September, with performances on Sept. 20, 21, and 22.

For fans of "Scooby-Doo," "Only Murders in the Building," and "Clue," this light hearted merry-go-round whodunnit is sure to delight and entertain. Crane Hammond, a successful writer of mystery novels, rents a charming house in rural New England to vacation for a month. While hoping to simply relax and reinvigorate her creative spirit, Crane is caught by total surprise when a body not only shows up, but disappears — only to be replaced by another.

Crane’s vacation is quickly upended when the rental turns out to be the focal point of a jewel heist. Not all is as it appears in this sleepy, country town —and Crane Hammond has somehow ended up right in the middle of it.

Open auditions will be for actors aged 18 and up.The script calls for five men and five women; however, character roles are not race-/ability-/gender-/age-specific. Anyone interested in auditioning should wear comfortable clothing, and be ready to read from the script. No advance preparation is required.
