Join the Society as it holds its annual Fall Symposium. The Symposium will be at the dining lodge at historic Camp Shawnee at Knob Noster State Park and will feature morning presentations by archaeologists about various topics in Missouri archaeology. Light refreshments will be served.

Presentations will begin at 9:20 a.m. Presentations will be followed by a catered picnic lunch at the dining lodge. Lunch catered by Alewels Country Meats in Warrensburg will be smoked chicken, pulled pork, au gratin potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, and rolls. Assorted homemade cookies and lemonade and tea will also be provided. The lunch price is $17.

Following lunch, attendees will caravan to the Johnson County Historical Society Complex in Warrensburg for a guided tour of the various exhibits and buildings (such as the original 1842 courthouse) that comprise the complex. The field trip cost is $5, which supports the Historical Society in their efforts.

This meeting provides a forum for the exchange of information between avocational and professional archaeologists and is vital in helping the Society promote: (1) the investigation, preservation, and interpretation of prehistoricand historic remains in Missouri, (2) a constructive attitude toward these remains, and (3) cooperation between avocational and professional archaeologists.

Established in 1935, the MAS is a nonprofit organization of avocational and professional archaeologists who are interested in the prehistory and history of Missouri and who support the purposes of the Society.
