Warsaw wife stabs husband in back after he comes back late from walking dog

At 10:41 p.m. Thursday, July 18, Benton County central dispatch was notified of a stabbing that had just occurred at 33035 KK Highway in rural Warsaw.

Deputies rushed to the address around three miles outside city limits to find Douglas E. Roberts, 55, bleeding profusely and sitting on his wife, Pamela E. Roberts, 55.

Douglas stated his wife had stabbed him in the back two times with a large camping knife after he returned from walking by the lake with his dog. Douglas stated his wife was enraged about him being gone for so long.

“Anytime you get stabbed in the body it's pretty serious,” Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox told the Democrat. “But, it was just to the side of the spine, and you couldn't tell how deep so they life-flighted him. He was still walking and talking when he left.”

Pamela was taken into custody without incident. She appeared to have no injuries and made several statements about being in disbelief that she had actually stabbed her husband. Both parties had been consuming alcohol.

“Unfortunately, there are a lot of factors,” Knox said. “Temperature, heat, things going on in people's lives tend to escalate and this one escalated a little too far, she seemed to be in disbelief she'd done it. There was some alcohol involved, so that doesn't help.”

Pamela was transported to the Benton County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

“She was she was uninjured from what we could tell,” Knox said. “He just got her and held her down until we got there. I wish people would get help before they go to those extremes, there's help for anger and anxiety.”
