A 73-year-old Springdale, Arkansas man died following a plane crash in Pettis County on Saturday, Oct. 3.
According to Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders, law enforcement and fire officials were dispatched to the 10000 block of State Highway B at 6:01 p.m. following reports of a downed plane.
Upon arrival, an Ultralite aircraft was located near a pond in the front yard of a residence.
Bystanders had already removed the pilot from the plane and started CPR. Efforts continued until the pilot was declared dead.
The incident is under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.
The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Windsor Fire, Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Pettis County Ambulance District.
