This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

Dec. 20

12:03 a.m.: David R. Batzel, 34, of the 2600 block of Martha Lane, was arrested near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and East 12th Street on charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license. Shane Emon Hatami, 32, of the 2600 block of Wing Avenue, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Melinda S. Lamb, 33, of the 23000 block of state Route M, was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane use near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and East 12th Street. A computer check showed the driver’s license, Batzel, was suspended. A K9 unit was deployed for a drug sniff and officers located methamphetamine in the vehicle. The other two occupants were also placed under arrest. All three subjects were taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour holds pending the filing of state charges.

Incidents

Dec. 19

12:08 p.m.: A complainant reported her juvenile daughter was sexually assaulted the past week in the area between the 1000 and 1400 block of South Harrison Avenue. A suspect has been identified but had not been located at the time of the report. The investigation is ongoing.

Dec. 20

2:12 p.m.: A subject reported her vehicle had been stolen in the 500 block of West Saline Street. She said she gave her vehicle to a subject she was familiar with on Friday. The suspect then refused to return it. The suspect and vehicle had not been located at the time of the report.

Arrests

Dec. 20

7:49 p.m.: Danielle Bierschbach was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, identity theft and unlawful possession of a weapon. She was also arrested for outstanding warrants from Morgan and Henry counties. Gregory Bierschbach was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and manufacturing a controlled substance. Deputies and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Deputies were also assisted by a Sedalia Police Department K9 Unit and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Both subjects were taken to the Pettis County Jail and placed on 24-hour holds pending the filing of state charges.
