Immanuel United Church of Christ recently dedicated a plaque to honor Marie Elizabeth Ahn (Fritz) (1912 – 2015). Marie was the daughter and grand-daughter of German and Swiss immigrants. Her family helped to found the German Immanuel Evangelical Congregation in 1876. Marie met her future husband, Michael Ahn, in 1955. They later married and moved to New York where Marie was on the staff of the New York State Library in Albany. Years later, when Marie passed, she remembered her roots and her connection to Immanuel Church. She left a generous bequest to Immanuel for the purpose of helping the Senior Citizens of the church and the community. A committee was formed to administer the funds. Immanuel has grants available for qualifying individuals or organizations. For more information, contact Immanuel’s website at www.iuccsedalia.com. Members of the Ahn Committee are pictured. David Albright, Leora Bremer, Shirley Albright, Pastor Steve Buchholz – representing the UCC Mid-Missouri Conference, Phillip Gerlt and Julie Bales.
