This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 14

1:52 a.m.: Jesus Ubaldo Quetzecua, 26, of the 1100 block of East 11th Street, was arrested after an officer was dispatched to a traffic accident near East 16th Street and South Engineer Avenue, where the driver had fled. Quetzecua was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, driving while intoxicated - prior offender, driving with a suspended driver's license, and no proof of insurance.

April 19

5:08 a.m.: Yader Stibi Salinas, 21, of the 1400 block of South Moniteau Avenue, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop for excessive speeding on U.S. Highway 65 near West Broadway Boulevard. Salinas had no driver's license. He was arrested and released for speeding and driving without a driver’s license.

April 22

12:30 a.m.: Jose M.A. Quetzecua Hernandez, of the 100 block of Grand Avenue, was arrested after a vehicle stop at Grand Avenue and West Seventh Street when he was observed striking the fog line multiple times. Hernandez was intoxicated and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked, and released for driving while intoxicated.

2:03 a.m.: John Isaac Bayless, 20, of the 23000 block of Highway MM, was arrested near South Emmett Avenue and East Fourth Street in a vehicle with no license plate lights. Bayless was intoxicated and was issued a ticket for driving while intoxicated. The passenger, A.T. Bard, 44, of the 1600 block of East Fourth Street, interfered, refused to follow directives, and was arrested for resisting arrest.

11:39 p.m.: Christian Waldo Zacharias, 26, of the 700 block of North New York Avenue, was arrested after driving around officers directing traffic on East Broadway Boulevard. The driver was intoxicated and was transported to the police department, issued a traffic ticket and released to a sober driver.

11:58 a.m.: Charlotte E. Vinson, of the 100 block of Villa Drive, was arrested after a traffic stop near West 16th Street and Devin Road. Vinson was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

April 23

1:44 a.m.: Gabriel A. Leclaire, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested after officers responded to the 900 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a follow-up to a trespassing call earlier in the evening. The caller was with the subject in the alley on South Montgomery. Leclaire was arrested for trespassing and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

2:02 a.m.: Tylan Kavir Carter, 20, of the 2600 block of Graham Drive, was arrested after officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Engineer Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard. Officers learned the driver was suspended. Carter was issued a citation and the vehicle was released to a valid driver.

9:46 a.m.: Michael R. Fritchey, 40, of Independence, was arrested after officers were dispatched to a business in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to harassment. The victim received threatening messages from a friend who was arrested while driving her car a few days ago. The suspect was on scene when officers arrived and the victim wished to pursue charges of harassment. Fritchey was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for second-degree harassment.

Incidents

April 13

12:45 p.m.: A subject entered the police department lobby to report his vehicle stolen. It was later located.

April 18

8:46 a.m.: An officer took a fraud report from a business in the 300 block of West 16th Street. The complainant stated that three total fraudulent charges had been made to the business account in March and April from the same suspect totaling $670.69.

April 21

12:04 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of East 10th Street in reference to a possible burglary. Entry was made into the house and it was cleared without incident.

3:45 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to a business in the 1400 block of South Limit Avenue and met with a complainant who said a suspect entered the business and stole a Nintendo Switch valued at $485. The suspect has not been identified.

10:15 p.m.: An officer observed a subject urinating in public in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard. The subject was arrested, issued a summons and municipal court date, and released from the police department.

April 22

3:12 a.m.: Officers spoke with a reporting party who stated he was assaulted in front of his residence in the 100 block of West 10th Street by an unknown individual. A suspect has not been identified.

6:53 a.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of West 28th Street in reference to a property damage report. The victim said sometime in the overnight hours, someone broke a window on their front door.

5:55 p.m.: Officers responded to the Missouri State Fairgrounds, 2503 W. 16th St., in reference to a theft. The complainant stated her wallet was stolen out of her vehicle and her debit card was used at a local business. Officers were able to identify possible suspects, but no contact was made.

6:59 p.m.: Officers took a report in the police department lobby. The victim stated her adult son took her EBT card and the debit card where she receives her social security income.

April 23

1:38 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East 14th Street for a report of theft. The caller stated at some point during the evening, someone stole his trash can.

6:20 p.m.: Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Liberty Avenue for a found property report. The reporting party said he found a fake $100 bill. The bill was a movie prop that was collected and placed into evidence.

April 23

12:56 p.m.: Deputies responded to a structure fire in the 1200 block of Elm Hills Boulevard in Sedalia.

Arrests

April 21

11:58 p.m.: Gage S. Hutchins, 25, of Belton, was arrested in Henry County for a felony Johnson County, Kansas, warrant, no insurance, and no valid plates. He was transported to the Henry County Jail.

1:00 p.m.: Joshua S. Griffith, 31, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for enticement of a child, promoting child pornography, and four counts of possession of child pornography. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

April 22

1:52 a.m.: Saunders T. Charpie, 21, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for felony driving while intoxicated, speeding, no seat belt, driving with a revoked driver's license and a lane violation. He was transported to the Johnson County Jail and released.

4:20 p.m.: Ronald l. Cihal, 59, of Warsaw, was arrested in Benton County for boating while intoxicated and having insufficient personal flotation devices aboard. He was transported to the Benton County Sheriff's Department and released.

10:11 p.m.: Gregorio B. Burch, 31, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, a registration violation and a lane violation. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

April 23

1:01 a.m.: Juventino G. Gomez, 55, from Kansas City, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated, no valid operator's license, and lane violations. He was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.

2:59 a.m.: Brittiany D. Stanley, 24, of Warrensburg, was arrested in Johnson County for driving while intoxicated and no tail light. She was transported to the Warrensburg Police Department and released.
