Man hurt in Benton crash

A Gravois Mills man was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:53 a.m. Thursday in Benton County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Bruce E. Goddard, 56, was driving south on state Route 83 south of Big Pomme Bridge when his vehicle struck a deer, causing the vehicle to travel off the right side of the road and strike a tree.

Goddard, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center with minor injuries.

Green Ridge man seriously injured

A Green Ridge man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident at 6:40 p.m. Thursday in Lafayette County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, James M. Couchman, 51, was driving west on state Route YY east of state Route 13 when his vehicle struck a deer in the road. The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Couchman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by Life Flight air ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence for his injuries.
