Five from Springfield in serious condition after Benton accident

Three females from Springfield; ages four, 13 and 14 sustained serious injuries, Amanda M. Greff, 32, of Springfield sustained serious injuries, and Anthony C. Campolo, 35, from Springfield sustained serious injuries at 4:35 p.m. Friday, July 12, in a Benton County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Greff was driving a 2009 Honda CRV North U.S. Highway 65 at Balke Road, when a 2001 Chevrolet 2500, driven by Chastity N. Webster, 29, of Warsaw, pulled into her path.

The four-year-old was transported by Warsaw Lincoln Ambulance District to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage beach, the 13-year-old was transported by Mercy EMS to Lake Regional, the 14-year-old was transported by air ambulance to University of Hospital in Columbia, Greff was transported by air ambulance to Research Medical Center in Kansas City, and Campolo was transported by Warsaw Lincoln Ambulance District to Lake Regional.

Benton County accident leaves one in serious condition

Casey P. Graham, 40, of Windsor, suffered serious injuries at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, July 14, in a Benton County accident.

The crash occurred as Graham was driving a 1993 Chevrolet 1500 east on state Route T at Quail Run Drive and began to pass a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Andrew R. Spooner, 58, of Warsaw, who was also headed east. The motorcycle began to make a left turn and struck from behind.

Neither driver was wearing a safety device. Graham was transported by MU-3 to University Hospital in Columbia.

Clinton woman in serious condition after Henry County crash

Marilyn Y. Lam, 84, of Clinton, suffered serious injuries at 1 p.m. Friday, July 12, in a Henry County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Kawasaki Mule driven by Lam north on Missouri Highway 7 attempted to make a left turn and was struck by a 2016 Buick Enclave driven north by Janice K. Caldwell, 69, of Eldridge, causing Lam to be ejected.

Caldwell was wearing a seat belt, Lam was not and was transported by Golden Valley Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

16-year-old driver hurt in Henry County accident

A 16-year-old female, from Warsaw, suffered minor injuries at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, July 14, in a Henry County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the girl was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe east on state Route C west of state Route Y when she attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway and traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle returned to the roadway, crossed the center of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned.

She was wearing a seat belt, and was transported by Golden Valley Ambulance District to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.

Intoxicated driver injured in Johnson County accident

Nicholas C. Palecek, 63, of Sedalia, suffered moderate injuries at 1:38 p.m. Friday, July 12, in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Palecek was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado south on Missouri Highway 13 north of MIssouri Highway 13 and Business 13's south roundabout. Palecek attempted to overtake a 2024 Freightliner driven by William L. Thompson, 67, of Springfield, who was driving south. A 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven north by Richard J. Fry, 42, of Holden, and the Freightliner struck mirrors causing the Cherokee to strike the rear of the Freightliner then travel off the right side of the roadway and overturn.

Palecek was arrested for driving while intoxicated - drugs, careless and imprudent driving involving a crash, and no insurance. He was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg and released for care.
