14-year-old Kansas girl seriously injured in Benton County ATV accident

A 14-year-old girl from Tonganoxie, Kansas, suffered serious injuries at 7:50 p.m. Saturday in a Benton County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the teen and another 14-year-old girl from Clinton were on a 1998 Honda FourTrax ATV headed west on Balke Road when the driver fell off the vehicle.

Neither girl was wearing a safety device, the injured girl was transported by University of Missouri Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia.

Blairstown man seriously injured in Benton County accident

Sidney L. Riley, 49, of Blairstown, suffered serious injuries at 11:05 p.m. Saturday in a Benton County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Riley was driving a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer South on state Route T when he traveled off the right side of the road, returned to the road, and continued off the left side of the road colliding with a tree and overturning.

Riley was not wearing a seat belt, and was flown to University Hospital in Columbia

Intoxicated Deepwater man injured in Henry County ATV accident

Michael L. Shoemaker, 36, of Deepwater, suffered moderate injuries at 5:35 p.m. Saturday in a Henry County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Shoemaker was driving a 2004 Suzuki Quad sport ATV south on Missouri Highway 52 at CR SW 201 when he stopped at a stop sign then pulled into the path of a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Norman D. Lesmeister, 58, of Montrose, who was headed east.

Shoemaker was not wearing a safety device and was transported to Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton then flown to Research hospital in Kansas City.

Shoemaker was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Man from Whiteman Air Force Base injured in Johnson County crash

Mark A. Castaneda, 28, from Whiteman Air Force Base, suffered moderate injuries, and Haley L. Hetrick, 23, of Independence, suffered minor injuries at 6:44 p.m. Friday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, both vehicles were traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 at state Route AA when the 2017 Ford Focus driven by Hetrick began to make a left turn and was struck by Castaneda's BMW Z4.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, Hetrick had minor injuries and refused medical treatment, Castaneda was transported by EMS to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Pedestrian from Knob Noster seriously injured by ATV

A 17-year-old female from Knob Noster suffered serious injuries at 7:05 p.m. Friday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the pedestrian ran into the roadway and into the path of a 1984 Suzuki 4 wheel ATV driven west the 800 block of SE 425th Road and was hit by a 15-year-old girl from Knob Noster.

She was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Warrensburg woman suffers minor injuries in Johnson County accident

Terra C. Brady, 24, of Warrensburg, suffered minor injuries at 1:09 a.m. Sunday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Nathan C. Hargett, 26, of Warrensburg, was driving a 2011 Chrysler 300 west on Southwest 400th Road when he traveled off of the right side of the roadway, through a ditch, struck a culvert, returned to the road and came to rest.

Hargett was not wearing a seat belt, Brady was, and was transported by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Otterville Harley passenger hurt in Morgan County deer strike

Tammy L. Hankins, 51, of Otterville, suffered minor injuries at 9:40 a.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Timothy C. McLain, 48, of Otterville, was driving a 2014 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra south on state Route D near Olive Branch Road when a deer traveled into his path and was struck. 

Neither Hankins nor McLain were wearing helmets, Hankins was transported to Bothwell Regional Heath Center by Mid-MO Ambulance District.

Marshall man hurt in Pettis County accident

Paulino Mejia, 55, of Marshall, suffered minor injuries at 10:33 a.m. Sunday in a Pettis County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Santiago R. Rivera, 79, of Marshall, was driving a 1996 Toyota Tacoma north on U.S. Highway 65 when he blew a tire, lost control, traveled off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Rivera was not wearing a seat belt, Mejia was and was transported by private conveyance to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

Intoxicated Sedalia man injured in Pettis County accident

Danny E. Cosby, 62, of Sedalia, suffered moderate injuries at 12:54 p.m. Sunday in a Pettis County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Cosby was driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee north on state Route H when he ran off the right side of the road, traveled through the ditch, struck the ground and came to rest facing north.

He was not wearing a seat belt, and was transported by Pettis County Ambulance District to University Hospital in Columbia.

Cosby was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated - persistent offender, failure to drive on the right half the road resulting in an accident, and no seat belt. He was released to the Pettis County Ambulance District.

Marshall man hurt in Saline County crash

Morales M. Diaz, 19, of Marshall, suffered minor injuries at 10:55 p.m. Saturday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Diaz was driving a 2013 Toyota north on U.S. Highway 65 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, through a ditch and impacted a culvert and mailbox before going airborne and overturning, coming to rest in the ditch upside down.

Diaz was wearing a seat belt, and was transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall by Saline County ambulance.
