Whiteman AFB driver hurt swerving for animal

Eric D. Hurley, 19, of Whiteman Air Force Base, suffered minor injuries at 1:07 a.m. Wednesday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Hurley was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado west on Southeast 350th Road when he swerved to avoid an animal, traveled off the road and struck a tree.

Hurley was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.

Motorcyclist in serious condition after Moniteau County crash

Robert E. Hern, 60, of Boonville, suffered serious injuries at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday in a Moniteau County crash.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Hern was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson Sportster north on Route 179 near Chapel Road when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch, overturned and was ejected.

Hern was not wearing a helmet and was transported by MU Air Care to University Hospital in Columbia.

Wardsville teen injured in Morgan County rollover

A 16-year-old boy from Wardsville suffered moderate injuries at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday in a Morgan County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the teen was driving a 2002 Honda Accord south on Route 89 when he traveled off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected again, and traveled off the right side of the roadway. His vehicle then struck a small embankment and overturned.

He was wearing a seat belt and was transported by Osage EMS to University Hospital in Columbia.
