This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

May 8

3:25 p.m.: Michael Dale Kearney Jr., 31, of the 500 block of East 36th Street, was arrested after a traffic stop at the intersection of Southwest Boulevard and Skyline Drive on a vehicle with expired registration. The driver was suspended and was transported to the Pettis County Jail, booked and released for driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain financial responsibility, and failure to register with the Department of Revenue.

6:40 p.m.: Francisco Martinez Moreno, 28, of the 600 block of North Stewart Avenue, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 800 block of Winchester Drive for failure to stop at a red light. Moreno did not have a valid driver's license and was arrested and released on the scene with a city summons.

Incidents

May 8

6:24 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Quincy Avenue for a domestic assault report. The victim stated the subject punched, kicked and strangled her during an argument. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival. A state charge of second-degree domestic assault is being submitted to the prosecutor.

10:18 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to a theft report in the 900 block of Westwood Avenue. They contacted the victim via phone and gathered further information. The investigation is ongoing.

6:17 p.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft. The suspect had already left the scene but officers took a report of the incident. The total value of items stolen was $17.76. The suspect has not been identified.

7:30 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East 11th Street for a theft report. They conducted an investigation and created a report.

Arrests

May 8

10:04 p.m.: Stefan M. Basham, 46, of Sedalia, was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Pettis County and transported to the Pettis County Jail and released.
