This list is a sampling of crime in Sedalia and the surrounding area. Information is taken from official police reports, which do not necessarily contain statements from all parties involved in each case.

Arrests

April 24

2:07 p.m.: Michelle F. Wells, 31, of Arlington, Texas, was arrested for shoplifting after an officer was dispatched to a business in the 3200 block of West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a theft report. The suspect was in the store and concealed items. Wells was issued a summons for shoplifting and released.

May 13

8:28 p.m.: Kiara Renee Willis, 23, of the 3600 block of South Kentucky Avenue, was arrested after officers initiated a pursuit of a vehicle fleeing from a traffic stop. They were able to identify the suspect and Willis was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail for felony warrants. She was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of speeding, careless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, resisting arrest and failure to drive on the right half of the road.

Incidents

May 10

4:03 p.m.: An officer spoke with a female on the phone regarding a fraudulent use of her debit card.

May 14

4:22 p.m.: A victim received a phone call from a person stating he was from a law enforcement agency and asked her to meet in a different county and pay her summons bond. Relatives contacted the sheriff's department and found it to be a scam. Details of the incident were documented and the victim would like to press charges.

6:48 p.m.: Officers responded to the 200 block of North Missouri Avenue regarding a fraud report. They spoke with the reporting party who said money was taken from his bank account. No suspects have been identified.
