Warsaw teen in serious condition after Benton ATV accident

A 16-year-old boy from Warsaw sustained serious injuries at 7:10 p.m. Friday in a Benton County ATV accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, he was driving a 2020 Ranger Polaris north on an ATV trail near Peppermint Drive. He attempted to make a left turn, overturned and was ejected.

He was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance District.

Three hospitalized after Johnson County crash

Logan S. Dunbar, 22, of Holden, suffered minor injuries, Stephen H. Cozad, 45, of Centerview, suffered moderate injuries, and Karl P. Cannon, 60, of Sedalia, suffered serious injuries at 6 p.m. Saturday in a Johnson County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 2012 Cadillac CTS driven by Cannon east on U.S. Highway 50 changed lanes from left to right and traveled off the road, striking a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Cozad, who was parked on the right shoulder.

Dunbar was not wearing a seat belt, but everyone else was. Dunbar and Cozad were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg and Cannon was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

Nebraska woman in serious condition after Morgan County accident

Sandra A. Penny, 69, of Gretna, Nebraska, sustained serious injuries at 3:12 p.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Penny was driving a 2020 Jeep Renegade north on Wilson Bend Road when she traveled off the left side of the road, overturned, and returned to the road, crossing onto Ridgeline Drive.

Penny was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach by Lake West Ambulance District.

Child in serious condition after Morgan County ATV accident

A 6-year-old boy from Stover sustained serious injuries at 5:17 p.m. Saturday in a Morgan County ATV accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the boy was driving a 2022 Hammerhead Mud Head 208R ATV south on Marina Drive. A break defect caused the vehicle to become inoperable and it crossed Marina Drive, became airborne, and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its top.

The child was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia by MU Air Care.

Gravois Mills motorcyclists hit deer in Morgan County

Janet L. Bengston, 67, of Gravois Mills, sustained moderate injuries and Kelly J. Olds, 66, of Gravois Mills, sustained minor injuries at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in a Morgan County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Olds was driving a 2016 Honda Africa south on Highway 5 near Highway TT when he struck a deer, ejecting both driver and passenger.

They were both wearing helmets. Bengston was transported by Mid-MO Ambulance District to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Olds refused medical care at the scene.

Sedalia woman seriously injured in Saline County crash

Magdalena G. Peraza, 24, of Sedalia, sustained serious injuries at 8:53 a.m. Saturday in a Saline County accident.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Peraza was driving a 2009 Mitsubishi north on U.S. Highway 65 when she traveled off the left side of the road, returned to the road, traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment.

Peraza was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
